RESERVE PUBLIC AFFAIRS DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAM

Reserve PAO training:

The requirement for the creation and installation of a contemporary reserve training plan and specialized curriculum has been identified in discussion with the ADM (PA) Reserve Advisor and Dir. ADM (PA) Trg with respect to the ongoing development of a new curriculum and training plan for Regular Force PAOs.

An Introduction to Distance Learning Public Affairs Training:

This prototype site has been created to assist in the development of a distance learning package for Reserve Public Affairs Officers. The content is drawn from portions of the new curriculum being developed for the Basic Public Affairs Officers Qualification Course (BPAOC). The intent is to offer the same standard of training to R66 PAOs as is offered to Regular Force PAOs however in a package that is geared to reservists both in terms of delivery of the content and time frames for the training.

Currently, this site is not an official CF/DND site and it is presented for evaluation and conceptual purposes only. The only active sections are some applicable to PO 003 PA Imagery and are included as examples of the potential use of training content in a distance learning/Internet based environment.

Distance Learning Evaluation:

As the new curriculum for the BPAOC is developed and evaluated in 2004 it is intended that a concurrent process will produce an equivalent course for use in the training and development of RPAOs. This will potentially serve as a both a professional development tool for serving RPAOs with varying degrees of experience and as a primary training mechanism in support of RPAO recruitment and development.

As the entire concept will require validation in terms of delivery systems and content this process will be a process of continual change and refinement that will benefit from the input of the student base that it is designed to serve.
